Drinking culture in Germany is a life style. Part of German tradition has always been enjoying of good food and good drinks. Most bars and restaurants serve beer and wine, as well as a great variety of spirits. They are often open until 2 am in the morning or even later. In this country legal drinking age is 14 years old with parents’ supervision or 16 years old without them if the beverage has a natural concentration of alcohol such as wine and beer. However spirits are allowed to be drunk at the age of 18 years old.

Germans are as passionate about their wines as they are about their beer. German wines are cataloged at present as higher quality as the finest French wines.

Oktober Fest

The Munich Oktoberfest is known by the local people as the Wiesn, is the biggest public festival in the world with more visitors from all countries who altogether drink more than 5 million liters of beer and consume over 200,000 pairs of pork sausages mostly in the beer tents put up by the traditional Munich breweries. This fest has been taken place since more than 170 years ago in Germany.
