Finland

Finnish people like their liquor but actually "coffee" should be called their national drink. Most Finns drink at least six cups of coffee a day. It is very common to find it in restaurants where they serve you a pot of coffee as a welcome drink.

Their love for liquor is remarkable and that is why it is also normal to find many drunk people around. Strong liquor, beer and cider are the most popular drinks.

In Finland commercially sold beverages containing alcohol less than 2.8 % are classified non-alcoholic. However, it is forbidden to sell beverages with a minimum of 1.2 % of alcohol to children less than 18 years. Although considered non-alcoholic, homemade meads and beers may contain a very low amount of alcohol.

Schnapps is a Finn’s favorite, an all around tipple. Hard liquor often imported is expensive reason why domestic beer is a popular drink people on a budget stick to.

It is traditional to prepare nice hot beverages especially during Christmas, very cold time up there.
