Drambuie

Description:

Drambuie is a popular liqueur made from aged Malt Whisky, heather honey and a secret blend of herbs and spices including: saffron, anise, nutmeg, among others.

History:

Legend holds that the recipe for Drambuie was given in the late 19th Century by Clan MacKinnon to James Ross, who ran the Broadford Hotel in the Isle of Skye, where he developed and improved the recipe. One of his friends coined the name and the liqueur eventually was sold to France and the United States. After Ross' death, the recipe was sold in the early 20th Century to a different MacKinnon family who has been producing the Liqueur since.

Drambuie became the first liqueur to be allowed in the cellars of the House of Lords, it is currently produced in Broxburn, West Lothian in Scotland.
