Danish Beer
Beer is part of Danish culture, like most of other European countries. Beer is the most popular drink for Danes. Every day, especially if it is a sunny day is a good reason to drink it, most of the times in groups of people sitting around, another times it can also be drunk during a musical event hanging out with friends in Fælledparken.
During the year 700 Vikings had already the word: "aul(t) that was used for "bitter", which eventually became into: "ale".
Since the 1850's the production of beer in Denmark took a huge step in the brewery openings, which were concentrating on lager production. One of the most famous is the brewery Carlsberg, who gave this country an important role in the popularity of the lager beer by creating the bottom fermentation yeast called Saccharomyces Carlsbergensis.
