Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico is an island of cultural and racial mix. Spanish, Taino, African, American influences became of Puerto Rico a land with tropical traditions and exotic flavors.

Rum is the national drink in this island they produce high quality rums since the early times. It was Puerto Rico's first governor, Ponce de Leon, who established the first rum distillery in this country in the early 16th century. Soon Puerto Rico's sugarcane plantations were supporting the world's largest rum industry.

Puerto Ricans are heavy coffee drinkers, their coffee is among the best in the world, really strong, some of them drink it black and others with milk "cafe con leche".

The island does not produce wine but it is available. Beer and liquors are sold in almost very shop in Puerto Rico such as: grocery stores, meat shops, etc.
