Brandy

Brandy derived its name from the dutch word “brandewijn” that means wine burnt in casks. Its origin dates during the 10th century in Italy where it was prepared as a beverage called “acqua di vite” or life water. From there it was brought and commercialized in France and so on in the other countries of Europe.

Brandy is also known as Cognac, it is the distilled drink obtained after the fermentation of wines, grape juice or other type of fruits. This drink contains a high alcoholic grade.

Cognac is the most popular kind of brandy known worldwide, this brandy is produced with grapes from the region in France called Cognac. And it is only here that Cognac can be produced.

Most of brandies are aged for long period of time after distillation in oak casks. These casks receive a special aging treatment in order to get a bigger effect over the flavor and aroma of brandies.

Brandy is a spirit produced in most of the countries; ingredients may vary according to the location.
